If appropriate a Menopause Doctor will prescribe ‘gold-standard’ HRT as recommended by the British Menopause Society
We improve quality of life in women, suffering with hot flushes, insomnia, mood changes, low self esteem, memory problems, low libido, and/or joint pains. Offering patient choice is important to us, as we treat menopausal symptoms with either HRT or non- hormonal treatments.
We help women regain their confidence, careers and relationships. With our understanding of the complex issues around menopause in the workplace, we guide you on this journey.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms. As well as alleviating hot flushes and other symptoms, if started within 10 years of the onset of menopause, reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. HRT will reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures started at any age after the menopause.
We will discuss your risks and benefits from HRT in your first video consultation. Our aim is to provide you with up to date information. We use natural, plant based HRT (body-identical hormones) which come from the yam plant, and is chemically identical to our bodies hormones. This is the safest form of HRT.
The risks of HRT, including the risks of breast cancer and blood clots, are small. In most women the benefits of HRT outweigh the risks, when started within 10 years of the onset of menopause. The choice of HRT is pertinent to maintaining safety.
For women who are at higher risk of a blood clot, suffer with migraines or have liver disorders, transdermal oestrogen (patch or a gel) is safe. Bioidentical hormones (natural hormones) have been shown to have the lowest risk of breast cancer, clots and cardiovascular disease, and our experts will guide you in finding the most appropriate type for you.
The time leading up to menopause, when our ovaries start to produce less hormones, but we still continue to have periods, is known as perimenopause. This begins on average at the age of 40. Some women will start to experience some of the symptoms of menopause, such as joint pains, brain fog, or reduced energy and libido at perimenopause. Nutritional and lifestyle changes are key at this stage of life, both to relieve initial symptoms but also to prepare for a healthy and easy menopause. By making changes early you can maintain focus and energy, and prevent menopause being a stumbling block in your career and family life.
Women with troubling symptoms in perimenopause can also be safely started on HRT if needed. Our doctors are experts on tailoring the dose of HRT depending on your stage of menopause, degree of symptoms, and your risk profile.
Our GPs have a special interest and extra training in Menopause Care. Whereas some GPs may not feel comfortable prescribing HRT in women with risk factors, such as a family history of blood clots or breast cancer, our doctors are experts in menopause care and understand how to prescribe safely in women with higher risks. We communicate (with your consent) with your own GP and encourage you to do the same.
Through Liberty Health Clinics clinics we are able to offer you more time, and an in-depth look at your health and wellbeing. We believe in integrative medicine and that nutrition and mental wellbeing play an integral part in menopause care. We look at your bone health to reduce your risk of later fractures, and your cardiovascular health to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. We are passionate in helping women lead healthier, happier and longer lives.
With direct access and regular communication with our nutritionists and psychologists, we are able to give you the most holistic care for your needs
I was former shadow of myself until I met Dr Uddin. I'd become over-weight, depressed and I was barely functioning but immediately after my initial consultation with Dr Uddin, I felt relief. For the first time in a long while, I felt hope and I was able to anchor myself in her care. Dr Uddin is not only highly-qualified but also empathetic and intuitive. She listened and asked all the right questions. Within days I felt better in myself, Just knowing that I had someone that I could trust and that I was finally getting the help I so desperately needed. Dr Uddin provided me with a roadmap map and coached me along the way. I stuck with her 360-degree treatment plan and 6 months later I can honestly say that I don’t know where I’d be today without her. I feel better, wiser and more peaceful about the changes I’m going through. I have so much love, respect and gratitude for Dr Uddin. If you’re looking for professional, holistic support on your journey back to wellness. You’ve found it here. Resh, 2021, yell.com.
Truth is, I’ve had a fairly warped relationship with food ever since I can remember and after 30 years+ of disordered eating and then more recently coming into perimenopause, I felt totally resigned. And, despite the fact that I’d seen therapists in the past, I continued to struggle when it came to implementing and sustaining good habits. Things finally began to shift when I met Sabrina. Sabrina became my north star for all things nutrition. The combination of her expertise, wisdom and deep intuition made her approach to nutritional therapy potent . Sabrina took me under her wing and she was able to help me cut through deep mental barriers. She was able to help me accept myself, where I was in my life and most crucially, she was able to help me to internalise the fact that nutrition is more than food. She helped me understand that food is both life-force and a pleasure to be enjoyed – and on a practical level - she helped me to implement changes specific to my own needs. Today I'm a different person. I'm still on my journey but I'm finally learning a new way and I don't know where I'd be without her. Thank you so so much for showing up for me Sabrina. If you know you need support in altering your relationship with food and in building new habits and routines around food to help you feel better inside and out - you’ve struck gold. Resh, 2021.
I wanted you to know how grateful I am for your help over the last half a year. Despite everything, I wouldn’t give up my experience over that time because of the skills and understanding I’ve gained. Thank you for being a part of that. In particular, thank you for your warmth, non-judgement, and compassion which have helped me relate to myself in a new way.
Dr Uddin took time to explain my symptoms and the risks and benefits of treatment options. She is knowledgeable in her field and I would recommend to any woman going through the change! Anna, 2020, yell.com
